The Society of Antiquaries is custodian to many objects which together tell the stories of London over the past two thousand years. This lecture will look at a selection of some of the more famous of these amongst our paintings, prints and three-dimensional objects that emphasise the history of London as a narrative of changing communities and the public events which brought them together. The talk will also touch on the issues of conserving this precious legacy in the modern era and applying what we learn from conservation to wider fields of scientific study.

  • Speaker: Professor Maurice Howard is the President of the Society of Antiquaries of London
