Are you interested in natural history? Have you ever wondered why animals and plants have such strange Latin names? Carl Linnaeus (1707-1778) was a Swedish naturalist who amassed an amazing collection of animals and plants from all over the world and developed the system of naming them that we still use today. Find out more about Linnaeus and his collection, how it came to be in London and how over 200 years later it continues to be used to address current issues in conservation and biodiversity.

  • Speaker: Dr Ruth Temple is the Executive Secretary of the Linnean Society of London
Lynda Brooks is the Librarian of the Linnean Society of London
