The great haul of finds from the Thames is well known, and includes some of the most iconic objects from British prehistory such as the Battersea shield, the Waterloo Bridge helmet and the Kew tankard. Less well known is the story behind their recovery which, like any good whodunnit, involves fallible heroes, intricate sub-plots and (maybe) a satisfying conclusion.

    See map of Burlington House.
  • Speaker: Jon Cotton FSA, formerly curator of prehistory at the Museum of London
